The Manager Trade Compliance ensures that our EMEA business activities (import, export and international trade) comply with laws, other rules and standards countable to be compliant to EU, NL, UK, Austria and WTO legislation. You will design and implement an EMEA trade compliance program which allows for identifying, preventing and mitigating trade compliance risks related to customs laws and trade regulations of countries where LW EMEA operates.

This position ensures for LW EMEA in the area of Trade Compliance that the organization operates within legal and regulatory boundaries, mitigates compliance risks and maintains a strong culture of ethics and integrity.

You will become a part of the Corporate Quality organization and report directly to the Director Quality Compliance. This role is based in Breda. You will manage a team of 4 Trade Compliance Specialists and a Trade Compliance Project Lead (approximately 4,2 FTE), that helps you achieve the trade compliance strategy and deliverables.

What do you do?

  • Accountable to install up to date policies, procedures and work instructions on trade compliance processes;
  • Accountable that our export documentation sets are executed in line with trade and safety legislation and requirements in the country of import;
  • Compliant execution on free trade agreements (EU) on preferential origin, origin statements, 3rd party screening, and 0% VAT proof;
  • Ensure up to date trade and reportable compliance register;
  • Ensure that the business is informed on latest regulations and industry standards on trade complianceHierarchical management over a team of TC project lead and TC specialists (4,2 FTE);
  • Develop and manage your team by implementing and identify training, talent development and support career planning;
  • Ensure that all customs declarations in the EU and the UK are executed in line with legal requirements;
  • Engages in senior-level interactions to drive awareness and accountability for trade compliance across the organization;
  • Actively participates in discussions and decision-making processes related to compliance, sharing insights and recommendations Identify and report out risk analysis on trade compliance and drive improvement actions to mitigate customs risk;
  • Develop and maintain LW EMEA trade compliance policy;
  • Identify process inefficiencies and lead implementation of solutions to eliminate risk, inefficiencies and improve service to business partners while maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements.

stakeholders understand their roles more clearly and drive desired behaviors. This role also drives reputation management as a critical member of the Crisis Management Team.

  • Minimum required master degree with minimum proven 10 years experience in supply chain management or International Business Administration, supplemented by a graduate degree in trade or compliance related fields;
  • Experience within a publicly traded company or top tier consulting 4 including at least 7 years of experience in a compliance related function and minimum of 7 years of relevant global trade experience. Experience must include managing trade compliance requirements for Europe both for inbound and outbound logistics operation;
  • Requires experience in developing and implementing trade compliance programs;
  • Extensive valuation and experience using WTO guidelines in partnership with stakeholders accorss product development, sourcing organisation, finance and legal;
  • Solid and proven experience of license and brokerage management experience with a global logistics organisation or highly globalized import/export operations;
  • >10 years’ experience in managing and developing multi-discipline teams, preferably with international reach across multiple service types;
  • Excellent up-to-date skills on European customs law
  • At least 3 languages at high level.
